This program is based on TransPorter Group’s Becoming a Leader Model. It is designed for to help lay a foundation for emerging leaders to develop fundamental leadership attributes. Program Objectives: • To help emerging develop and internalize a leadership identity; • To develop a sense of purpose; • To learn to develop a support system necessary for leadership success; • To provide emerging leaders with tools to recognize and leverage opportunities; • To help emerging leaders recognize and navigate barriers and avoid potential de-railers.

Dr. Jeanne Porter King is the founder and president of Trans Porter Group in Chicago. Her latest book is titled Influence Starts with "I": A Woman's Guide to Unleashing the Power of Leading From Within and Effective Change Around You. Jeanne's mission is to move people and systems to higher levels of effectiveness. Jeanne is a seasoned organizational development consultant with more than 25 years of experience consulting, coaching and training in areas including leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and communication.

objective.

Develop a support system-- Every leader needs a support system of great managers, mentors, and trusted advisors, and eventually sponsors to provide feedback, boost confidence and encourage up-and-coming leaders to go for expanded opportunities.

  • Be able to negotiate the situation-to put yourself in the middle when you have the expertise.
  • Be able to succinctly and clearly share what you have done, are doing and are looking for.
  • Be in the right place at the right time and know the right people.

Recognize and leverage opportunities-- Opportunities for advancement will not just drop in your lap.

  • Be open to feedback and advice from your support network.
  • Don’t inflict self-imposed barriers; don't accept and stay in the "box" you may have been put in if it is not truly you.
